Technology and Internet Service Provider to Explain Options, Discuss Service for Rural Households and Businesses on April 9th, 2019

Wilmington, NC – March 20, 2019 – CloudWyze, the technology and internet services company selected by Nash County, North Carolina, to deliver high speed internet to unserved and underserved citizens and businesses, will hold two local, public information sessions on April 9, 2019. In Middlesex, citizens and businesses will be welcomed at the Wiggs Family Restaurant, 11429 W Finch Ave, from 3pm – 5pm. In Castalia, CloudWyze will attend the town council meeting, 9507 Main St, Castalia, at 7pm.

Construction for phase one of the project is nearing conclusion and initial services are scheduled to be available in May 2019. CloudWyze will use these public sessions as an opportunity to explain the offering, provide an update in the deployment and when service will be rolled out, then answer questions on related topics.
“We’ve been hard at work installing and testing the infrastructure needed to deliver a competitive internet service to the people who live and work in rural Nash County,” said Shaun Olsen, CEO of CloudWyze. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to meet with the citizens on their turf to explain how the system works and when we will deliver for their particular needs.”

In a creative public-private approach, Nash County commissioners approved and committed funding to assist in providing high-speed internet into rural areas of Nash County in 2018 after years of hard work. CloudWyze committed to the installation of phase one and initial trial customers within 6 months of signing, addressing both economic development and personal needs for high-speed internet.

The Pilot

CloudWyze has established a network operations center and is in the process of installing primary and secondary towers capable of providing speeds comparable to that of neighboring served areas. The initial goal is to provide high-speed service to a subset of subscribers in each of the two more challenging areas of Nash County – Castalia and Middlesex. The complete rollout will extend service throughout the vast majority of the county and present speeds in excess of 1Gbps. The project will take about a year before county and company officials decide whether to expand the service throughout the rest of the county.
