Technology and Internet Service Provider Expands to Nash and Halifax Counties, adding team members to help rural counties solve broadband needs

Wilmington, NC – November 13, 2019 – CloudWyze, a Wilmington, NC-based internet and managed services provider, was selected to deliver high speed internet to under-served citizens and businesses in North Carolina’s Nash and Halifax Counties. To support these endeavors, the company has added two executives and plans to add four more team members this year. Adrian Wilson, known broadly for his many years in private equity and in support of entrepreneurs, joins as Executive Vice President; Nicco Leone, a leader in technology and operations, joins as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

“I’m excited to join CloudWyze at such a crucial time,” said Adrian Wilson. “We have the opportunity to grow a significant business by providing broadband access to a portion of our population that has never had it before. Internet access today is as much a right as access to electricity was a generation ago, and credit goes to the state and local officials who are championing this cause.”

Attorney, entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Adrian Wilson is known for his work in private equity and across all aspects of business leadership. Wilson has held many positions in corporate investment, including as founder of Square1 Ventures where he managed a $45 million venture capital fund-of-funds. His leadership evolved further over several positions as an attorney and consultant, and most recently was demonstrated when he co-founded a telecommunications company, Airwavz Solutions. At CloudWyze he will provide executive services leading to funding opportunities and enhanced government and community relations.

“It’s all about speed to market,” according to Nicco Leone. “And not just from a business strategy perspective – I’m talking about the demand for reliable internet in these rural areas. Families and businesses are hungry for it, and it’s our job to serve them as quickly and efficiently as possible. I couldn’t be more excited to return to my home town of Wilmington to help families and companies across the State succeed.”

Leone recently returned to Wilmington, NC for the COO role at CloudWyze. He previously had spent several years at Capgemini Consulting as an operations and technology consultant and subsequently joined his client Brooks Brothers to build a global center of excellence driven by systems and operational efficiencies. He left Brooks Brothers to become an entrepreneur, founding digital marketing automation company, Lykewyze.

About CloudWyze Rural Broadband Initiative

CloudWyze has a unique solution that allows remote, rural locations to reach the broadband signals required for daily living in the 21st century. In 2018, a creative public-private approach connected CloudWyze to Nash County, where commissioners committed funding to deliver high-speed internet rural parts of the county. CloudWyze has begun the installation of a robust network capable of providing 100+ megabits per second internet access to residents, and the ability to meet the demands of any business with dedicated access up to and beyond 1Gbps. It has been supporting initial trial customers since April of 2019, and in January of 2020 will expand services in Nash and subsequently Halifax County.

This year, CloudWyze was awarded $3.8MM in non-restricted grants from municipal and state government organizations as part of North Carolina’s initiative to deliver high-speed, reliable broadband internet to rural areas of the state. It is currently establishing systems and personnel to expand to other rural counties.
