Moratoc Park 

Nestled in the charming town of Williamston is Moratoc Park. Which is more than just a park—it’s a destination that seamlessly combines natural beauty with modern amenities. This 18-acre park offers a multitude of attractions for outdoor enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Allowing you to wander along the river overlook or take advantage of the fishing pier and non-motorized boat launch. History lovers will enjoy viewing the one-room schoolhouse and a former lumber mill commissary.

Recently, Moratoc Park has undergone a renovation with the support of Martin County and its citizens, as well as grants from the NC Parks & Recreation Trust Fund and NC Recreation Trails Program. This park now boasts the magnificent Moratoc building. A rustic conference building with a full kitchen, modern bathrooms, a cozy stone fireplace, and a spacious deck that offers breathtaking views of the Roanoke River. With a seating capacity of 250 people, the Moratoc building is the epitome of versatility, providing a perfect setting for receptions, weddings, meetings, and special events. Additionally, it features an outdoor covered area, ideal for hosting delightful cookouts such as pig pickings and fish fries. 

River Landing Boardwalk 

River Landing Boardwalk is a popular destination for residents in Martin County. This remarkable project, which began in 2008 now spans 6.8 acres along the banks of the Roanoke River. The project received significant funding from the NC DOT Enhancement program and NC Wildlife Resources, with additional support from a grant provided by the National Recreation and Trails program. The initial phase of the project included the construction of the boardwalk along the river and the restroom/shower facility. In 2010, a camping platform designed specifically for river paddlers was completed, further enhancing the recreational opportunities available. Today, visitors can enjoy fishing, walking and bike riding, boating, and camping! River Landing Boardwalk is a testament to the community’s dedication to preserving the natural beauty of Martin County and providing exceptional outdoor experiences for visitors and residents alike. 

Golf & Disc Golf Courses 

Golf enthusiasts will want to check out the Roanoke Country Club and the Roberson Country Club. The “Roanoke” at Roanoke Country Club is an 18-hole course designed by the renowned Gene Hamm which has been open since 1955. With a course rating of 70.2 and a slope rating of 125, golfers can expect a thrilling round on this beautifully maintained course. The Roberson Country Club is located in Robersonville, NC is very well priced and offers a well-sized practice area and carts. 

We didn’t forget about you, Disc Golfers! The Farmlife Disc Golf Course offers an 18-hole course that welcomes both professional players and amateurs throughout the year. However, the catch is that you have to contact Kent at 252-217-9735 before playing. Disc golf enthusiasts can look forward to participating in the exciting Homegrown tour held every Sunday after Thanksgiving, as well as the highly anticipated main event that takes place on the first weekend in June. 

Sports Complexes 

There are several sports complexes located in Martin County. They not only host sporting events, but also catalyze economic growth throughout the county. They do this by drawing visitors from near and far for various tournaments and events. Among these are Godwin-Coppage Park, Kehukee Park, and Jamesville Ball Park. Godwin-Coppage Park is one of Williamston’s largest sports complexes. Boasting 4 softball fields, batting cages, a full soccer complex, a marked walking trail, a picnic shelter and a handicap-accessible playground. While Kehukee Park is home to Williamston’s Youth Baseball League. Jamesville Ball Park serves the Jamesville community with baseball fields, softball fields, and a playground.

Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center 

If you’ve ever wanted to catch a Rodeo, here is your chance. The Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center is a state-of-the-art facility sprawling over 168 acres and has completed two phases of its three-phase master plan. The coliseum spans over 100,000 square feet It is both heated and ventilated, providing a comfortable experience for attendees. Also featuring a vending concourse, covering approximately 10,000 square feet. The center’s main attraction is the impressive 150′ x 300′ arena, equipped with permanent seating for 2286 people. Additionally, there is a fully enclosed 75′ x 125′ paddock. Along with a 120′ x 240′ covered arena, three outdoor practice rings, and four lunging rings.

To accommodate visitors, the center offers 456 permanent stalls, which are evenly distributed among six barns, and 100 available RV sites complete with water, electricity, and a four-station waste disposal site. Lastly, the center offers a climate-controlled Meeting Center Exposition Hall, spanning 10,380 square feet, which can be adapted to meet various event requirements. 

Martin Community Players 

Located in Williamston, NC, the Martin County Auditorium is home to the Martin Community Players, a local theater organization. This amazing group puts on many well-known productions throughout the year which can be found on their Facebook Page. Whether you like comedy, suspense, or musicals, there are shows for everyone to enjoy.

Williamston is not only the seat of Martin County, but a prime destination with its small-town charm and historic downtown streets.
